After sustained use they become unreliable where the wheel just spins and no spark. I have ordered a bunch and seen different results from each so maybe I got a few that were lemons. For me to much of a risk to take. I will stick with the Spark-Lite Fire-starters which I have used with good success or better yet the Ultimate Survival Technologies BlastMatch Fire Starter. The BlastMatch is a bit more expensive but well worth the cost. They seem to hold up better. Thanks. This is my second starter from them, each one is a little different depending on price. This one seems to come apart to replace the flint bar as it comes with an extra on each side of it. So really if your a problem solver, I think you can overcome the spinning wheel issue if it happens to you. I myself have had no problems but I also carry a back up as Murphy's law can get ya. ha, ha. I also have one in the survival kit and it is a solid unit with no extra flint and is also a little cheaper than this one if purchased separate from kit. There are so many fire starters on the market, too many to choose from really. Like matches that must have lighter fluid in them to work?? For survival?? I want something quick, small and reliable this is great in an emergency situation with only one hand.
